Interesting Freeware, Propagation & Terrain Mapping Software

Postby kishore » Thu Aug 21, 2003 1:07 am

Well here is an interesting piece of software that is free. It’s called Radio Mobile written by Roger Coudé VE2DBE.With this software and available earth land models you can help predict how your radio station will perform in a given area. You can use it to get an idea of how a current repeater system is performing. Or see what future sites and changes will affect propagation of signals. The software also provides 3D views, stereoscopic views, and animation. Plus a lot more features are packed into this program. With it being a freeware program it’s definitely worth a look. I have used this program off and on for a few years now just because I enjoy mapping terrain. And with the updated SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data available from JPL NASA at http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/pub_dist.htm.

You can't find more detailed terrain data with this kind of resolution for free.

You can find the Radio Mobile program at http://www.cplus.org/rmw/english1.html
