Indian Amateur Radio on CNN TV

Tidal Wave - Ham Radio coverage, CNN program : wa3vjb

CNN International is airing all month (23 April,
1,8,15 May) a comprehensive feature program on the ham radio operators who responded to the aftermath of the tidal wave that hit the Indonesian area in late December.



The name of the program is "Global Challenges."

Launch of HAMSAT on thursday May 5, 2005

HAMSAT launch is now scheduled for 5 May 2005 appx time is 10.22 IST.



Members of Amsat India will be at ISTRAC mission centre to experience the pre
launch checks , countdown, Tlm and oribital commands etc. As it will help hams to experience and gain knowledge of such activities
specially of their own Hamsat programme.
ISTRAC is the Indian Sat Tracking Centre at Bangalore.

First Indian Amateur Radio Satellite Successfully Launched

In its ninth flight conducted from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, today (May 05, 2005), ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C6, successfully launched the 1560 kg Indian Remote Sensing satellite, CARTOSAT-1, and the 42.5 kg HAMSAT into a 632 x 621 km high polar orbit. This is the highest payload weight that PSLV has launched so far.
