Hello All,

This is Vikram from Pune. I am interested in becoming a HAM operator and would like to know if there are any HAMs in Pune who are willing to guide me in my journey to becoming a HAM.

Hoping for a few positive replies, along with email ids! :-)

Wish to be aHAM: from Pune

Postby S1827 » Tue Jan 03, 2012 2:32 pm

Dear Kshitij

I need your advice. I am 58years, staying in Pune. Diploma In Mechanical Engineering .. I am not much of Electrical/ Electronic guy. I sure can understand if i approach any subject with patience.

I heard about HAM during my school days in 1970 and cherished a desire to be a HAM operator , but never had the time or money to invest in this hobby

1. Do you think at my age of 58 years , i can get the hang of HAM operation?
2. Will i be able to clear exams ?
3. Do i need to attend some classes ?
4. Is there a help / or a club available in Pune

i am confident at personal level and still working and i am not retired and have good health.
Any suggestions from you
or anyone else can pls reply me and guide me on this

Dear S1827

Answers are as below -

1. Age NEVER restricts for Ham License - the place where age restricts is
that below 12 years of age you can not apply for license.

2. Definitely you can clear the exam - because you have interest in this-
you will learn things very fast

3 Attending classes will be a bit difficult in Pune as now a days there are
no such classes here- but self study will make you more powerful-
because then you can study more- we all are there to help you in all
respect

4 Please refer Answer No. 3

5 This is additional answer- Google is your best friend - search as much
material as much you can - take help from people and success will be
with you

Dear EP 452

This EP452 looks as if it is SAP User ID (Joking !!)

You may get rid of Electronics theory part only - that too if you ask for concession in your Exam application form at the time of submission.

But, I don't think this Electronics theory is difficult part, what is your opinion - do you want to appear in theory or you want to skip?
