Postby vu2jos » Fri Dec 14, 2007 7:42 pm

It is indeed a great pleasure to learn that Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is proposed to launch the 2nd Amateur Radio Satellite Delfi-C3 from India, during the launch window between 7th to 10th January 2008 on PSLV-C9.

Delfi-C3 - is the first nanosatellite student project from the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and will give a big boost to spirit of Amateur Radio satellite communications in India.

I, on behalf of the Governing Council, members of NIAR and amateur radio community, would like to congratulate Delfi-C3 project team and Chair of Space Systems Engineering, Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and also ISRO for coordinating, coopertating the launch of the 2nd amateur radio satellite from India. I wish the launch and the new satellite project every success.

Yours sincerely,

Chairman, NIAR

The News item appearing in World Radio January 2008 issue is reproduced below.

India's Delfi-C3 Launch Delayed

The launch date of india's Delfi-C3 Amateur Radio Satellite will now be launched sometime between 07-19 Jan 08. The new dates account for both the weather and the launch of a preceding space vehicle.

Delfi-C3 will be launched into a 630 km 90 degree sun-synchronous orbit from the Indian launch site and will carry a 70 cm to 2 meter linear transponder for SSB and CW. For approximately the first three months of the mission, the satellite will be in telemetry only mode, after which it will switched to transponder operation.
