HAM EXAM IN MANGALORE

Is the ministry going to conduct exam in july 2009 at mangalore ?.Pls help . Also tell me regarding any new exams to be held b'ween april and august so that I can apply.

If you are from Mangalore then here is a piece of good information:

First Special Batch of HAM RADIO Classes@ MANGALORE
starting from 25th February 2012 at 6 pm.

Programme:
- Introduction to Ham Radio
- Basic Electronics (Only Theory)
- Rules, Regulations & Operating Procedures of Ham Radio
- Live demonstration on Ham Radio
Fees: Rs. 1200/- includes membership, examination fee and study materials
Eligibility: 12 years and above (Indian Citizens only)
Requirements: 1) Four Passport size photos
2) Date of birth certificate (Copy of SSLC Marks card, Passport, Affidavit,
Certificate from school principal stating date of birth as per the records). No
other documents are valid for examination.
Workshop days:
Weekend Ham Classes - Introduction and Demo on 25th Feb 2012 at 6.00 pm
Saturdays - Feb 25th, Mar 3rd and 10th (btwn 6 pm to 8 pm)
Sundays - Feb 26th, Mar 4th and 11th (btwn 9.30 am to 12.30 pm)
Examination : For this batch will be conducted during end of April 2012 by the Ministry of Communication and I.T., Government of India for grant of HAM (Amateur) Radio Operating license.

I recently heard that morse code is no longer in the syllabus of the ham radio exam ? is that true ?

Hi,
You will get restricted grade licence without Morse code, which is now permitted for HF also. See Guidelines for Amateur in the light of Amendment rules, 2009
