DDSv4.0

Postby LU5DNM » Wed Aug 17, 2011 2:45 am

Hi
I have builded DDS v4.0 and it work fine.
I planed use it with a QSD mixer in a direct conversion rig.
How have I to modify the code so that the displayed frequency be half the generated frequency?

Hallo,
I'd like to ask a question about the dds chip AD9832.
Since I found an interesting article on how to build a dds vfo with this chip, I thought to interface it with my computer instead of with a PIC. But my infinite researches on the web didn't lead me to a solution of this problem. I know that this chip has an integrated serial interface. So, would it be possible to connect it DIRECTLY (with two or three wires only - data input, data output and another pin) to the serial port of the computer? Or, if not directly, how to interface it with th serial port? Through a max 232 chip or a 74hct244 chip? I think that is possible to connect DIRECTLY to the serial port of a pc.
Thanks a lot,and good things to everyone!

I think it is not possible. The computer serial ports are asynchronous (no clock) where as AD9832 has synchronous (SPI) serial interface. It is better to use a microcontroller.

Thanks a lot dear friend.
Please, could you suggest me a link or where to find a simple schematic using possibly the 74HCT244 or similar chip(without searching for max232) to interface this chip to the pc?
All my best regards.

Re: DDS VFO on PCB by VU2PTR

Hi ALL

I am a ham in waiting from Murshidabad district in WB. I collected a DDS VFO pcb made by VU2PTR. But unfortunately I do not have the circuit diagram of the VFO. I e mailed PTR several times for the circuit but he is not blessing me with his advice. So any one made the DDS VFO please help me by providing the circuit. I am totally dependent on internet regarding ham matters.
